2012 Guide to Groceries under $250

I found this e-book called 2012 Guide to Groceries under $250 a month. I would love to get our Grocery budget even close to $250 a month. Do you have any good money saving tips for saving on the Household expenses??

  1. We're trying a cash budget (envelope system) to really track where we spend money and really stick to our budget. I really like "The Tightwad Gazette" and probably need to re-read it! People swear by couponing...I've never really gotten into it, though, because it seems like such a huge learning curve to really save money! Let me know what you learn from your book! One thing for us has been using meats and cheeses more as condiments than a main part of the meal really saves money. Making as much as you can from scratch, finding ways to do without, repurposing as much as possible...I'm learning a lot from people out here. They really know how to be thrifty! ;)

  2. I have done couponing and use pinching your pennies. They match your local sales with online and newspaper coupons to help you find a great deal. I don't take the newspaper, but we get the Red Plum in the mail and I use the online coupons. Here is a link to Northern California:

If you have a drug store nearby, they are the best for beauty and medical deals. You can often get your shampoo and medicine for free or nearly free. I don't do these very often because I don't have one very close by. Here's a link that has deals throughout US:

In using these lists, you'll see something like this: RP 12/4. This means the Red Plum coupon insert on December 4th. SS means Smart Source, PG means Proctor and Gamble, and GM means General Mills. Also, the red 4 and 5 star items are the best deals. I hope this helps.
